AI in Healthcare

AI in healthcare encompasses the use of generative AI, machine learning and biological models to support disease screening, clinical decisions, patient management and drug discovery. Recent applications range from the early detection of pancreatic cancer and Alzheimer's disease to the diagnosis of drug resistance, digital pathology, rehabilitation services and health advice. Products including ChatGPT for Clinicians and ESMFold2 are also moving more rapidly into practical use. Research, however, is increasingly exposing risks involving diagnostic errors, systemic bias and the leakage of medical-record data. How to balance benefits, regulation, data governance and clinical validation remains an important issue to watch.
