US Green Data Center Operator Soluna Buys Wind Facility to Strengthen AI Computing Energy Sovereignty

US green data center operator Soluna Holdings places data centers directly at renewable-energy sites, using power that might otherwise be curtailed to support AI and high-performance computing. As AI computing capacity expands rapidly, power reliability, electricity prices and carbon-emission costs have become central to data centers’ competitiveness and ability to expand.

As of July 20, 2026, Soluna Holdings had most recently acquired a wind-power facility in Texas for $53 million, securing its own source of renewable electricity and deepening the integration of its energy and computing infrastructure. The company aims to reduce purchased-power and operating costs, increase control over its electricity supply and establish an energy foundation for future expansion of its AI computing capacity.
