JEDEC Approves SPHBM4 Standard to Cut AI Memory Costs

JEDEC develops standards for the global semiconductor industry. As generative AI drives greater demand for memory bandwidth, current high-bandwidth memory relies on costly advanced packaging, raising system deployment costs. SPHBM4 uses a standard packaging architecture designed to reduce reliance on advanced packaging while improving the scalability and cost-effectiveness of AI memory.

JEDEC recently formally approved the SPHBM4 standard, offering a lower-cost memory solution for next-generation AI systems through faster signal transmission and improved thermal management.
