Sparrow Wallet, a Bitcoin wallet focused on privacy, has released a security update as artificial intelligence tools become more capable of scanning large codebases for potential weaknesses. The move highlights a growing role for AI-assisted review in software security, particularly for cryptocurrency applications where flaws can expose users’ funds or sensitive transaction information. Developers described the review as a preventive step rather than a response to a known attack.

Version 2.5.4 addresses issues identified primarily through an AI-assisted code review, according to the Sparrow Wallet developers. The team said it had found no evidence that the weaknesses were exploited and characterized the fixes as precautionary. Even without signs of active abuse, Sparrow urged users to install the update promptly because wallet software handles security-sensitive operations and delayed upgrades could leave devices exposed to issues already corrected in the latest release.
