Traditional Chinese Edition of ‘Mastering the Lightning Network’ Explains Core Bitcoin Layer 2 Payment Technology

Bitcoin’s main chain is constrained by block confirmation times and transaction fees, meaning everyday small-value payments can require a wait of about an hour. The Lightning Network instead establishes off-chain payment channels and uses HTLCs and Sphinx onion routing to settle payments across nodes, cutting the process to less than a second. It is an important piece of Layer 2 infrastructure in Bitcoin’s push toward global payments.

On April 7, 2026, BlockTempo published translator Dr. Awesome Doge’s account of the project and announced that a 17-chapter Traditional Chinese edition of “Mastering the Lightning Network” was available online. The translator began work in late 2021 without sponsorship from a publisher or foundation. Chapter 7 took three weeks to translate, while Chapter 10’s 40 pages on onion routing took two months. The edition also covers privacy risks including channel jamming and balance probing.
