4 reports · First detected 2026-07-14 · Last active 2026-07-15

As part of efforts to advance financial inclusion and lower investment barriers, Taiwan’s Financial Supervisory Commission promoted fintech regulatory experiments, including SinoPac Securities’ Stock Gift Card, the first such pilot in Taiwan to successfully enter commercial operation. The product brings stock investing into everyday gift-giving, allowing people to use the cards for birthdays or corporate gifts. Once redeemed, the funds can cover settlement payments and fees for recurring investments or odd-lot trades in securities including TSMC and the 0050 ETF, breaking down traditional barriers to opening brokerage accounts and investing.

The project formally entered commercial operation in July 2026. During the trial, it attracted more than 90,000 participants, generated nearly 50,000 new accounts for SinoPac Securities and recorded almost NT$60 million in cumulative redemptions. Following commercialization, the annual purchase limit per person was raised to NT$3 million. The cards are available in seven denominations ranging from NT$100 to NT$6,000 and can be redeemed for up to two years, significantly increasing convenience for individuals and businesses.
