CYBERSEC 2026 Formally Opens in Taiwan, Spotlighting AI Security and National Resilience

4 reports · First detected 2026-05-05 · Last active 2026-05-08

CYBERSEC is one of Asia's largest cybersecurity events, bringing together government, industry and the cybersecurity community. As generative AI and AI agents lower barriers for attackers, critical infrastructure, semiconductor supply chains and digital sovereignty face greater risks. Taiwan's government has therefore reiterated that cybersecurity is national security while promoting whole-of-society defense resilience and the development of cybersecurity standards.

CYBERSEC 2026 formally opened in Taipei on May 5, 2026, with sessions held from May 4 to 8 focusing on AI offense and defense, defenses against AI agents, and semiconductor cybersecurity standards. Chen Bai-li, director-general of the Ministry of Justice Investigation Bureau, also used the concept of the “fifth domain” to explain the full scope of Taiwan's cyber offense and defense landscape. No investment or procurement amount was disclosed for the event.
