Tokenized Pokémon Card Market Gains Momentum

2 reports · First detected 2026-04-23 · Last active 2026-04-27

As the Pokémon Trading Card Game marks its 30th anniversary, the Hong Kong Trade Development Council estimates that the global trading card market was worth $15.8 billion in 2024 and could grow to $23.5 billion by 2030. Platforms such as Courtyard place physical cards in third-party vaults and mint redeemable NFTs, allowing the collectibles to trade onchain as real-world assets, or RWAs. The model improves authentication, custody and liquidity.

The Block data showed that the tokenized Pokémon card market generated $5.38 million in revenue in the week ended April 6, 2026, second only to its all-time high in September 2025. The current surge has lasted six consecutive weeks and has been driven mainly by Courtyard. That differs from the previous spike, when a token generation event, or TGE, by Collector Crypt triggered a one-week jump.

Crypto Startups Tokenize Pokémon Cards to Challenge eBay2026-08-11 · 1 reports · similarity 0.88

Pokémon cards have evolved from hobby collectibles into an alternative asset class, with rare pieces commanding six- or seven-figure prices. Strategic Market Research valued the global trading-card market at $15.8 billion in 2024 and projected it to reach $23.5 billion by 2030. Yet authentication, shipping and fragmented listings make physical-card transactions slow and costly, opening the door for blockchain startups seeking to make ownership easier to verify and trade.

Tokenized Pokémon card marketplaces generated about $124.5 million in volume in August 2025. Polygon-based Courtyard accounted for roughly $78.4 million, while Solana-based Collector Crypt handled about $44 million. Their model places authenticated physical cards in secure vaults and issues blockchain tokens that can change hands instantly or be redeemed for the underlying collectibles. The startups must still overcome eBay’s deeper liquidity, pricing data and entrenched buyer-and-seller network before tokenization can reshape the broader market.
