ShinyHunters Steals 800,000 Personal Records from Wynn Resorts, Demands Bitcoin Ransom
ShinyHunters, a hacking group known for stealing corporate data and demanding ransoms, has targeted major U.S. casino and hotel operator Wynn Resorts. A leak of employee records would not only compromise personal privacy but could also enable identity theft, fraud and further cyberattacks, extending the impact beyond a single company.
ShinyHunters claims to have stolen about 800,000 employee records from Wynn Resorts, including sensitive information such as full names, dates of birth and salaries. The group is demanding 22.34 Bitcoin, worth about $1.5 million, and has threatened to publish the stolen data unless it receives the ransom by Feb. 23.
