Agentic AI to Drive Global Memory Market to an Estimated $1.28 Trillion in 2027
TrendForce said the focus of AI development is shifting from training large models to agentic AI, which can independently plan and execute tasks. Such applications require continuous inference and data access, increasing demand for high-performance memory including HBM and DRAM. The shift is turning demand from short-term inventory building into structural growth.
TrendForce sharply raised its market outlook in its latest 2026 report, estimating that the global memory market will grow to roughly three times its year-earlier size this year. It is expected to surpass $1 trillion for the first time in 2027, reaching $1.28 trillion. Although the industry expects the boom to continue for several quarters, a shortage of cleanroom space has become the main bottleneck to fab expansion and increased supply.
