Northern Trust, CSC Sign Digital Investment Infrastructure MoU
Northern Trust and Commonwealth Superannuation Corporation (CSC), an Australian government and defence-sector superannuation provider, previously worked together on Project Acacia, led by the Reserve Bank of Australia and the Digital Finance Cooperative Research Centre. The project tested how tokenised assets could operate through established banking and settlement infrastructure, a key issue as regulated institutions seek practical links between traditional markets and blockchain-based systems.
The companies said on Aug. 27, 2026, they had signed a memorandum of understanding covering tokenisation, digital assets, enhanced digital cash, liquidity management, settlement efficiency and infrastructure interoperability. No transaction value was disclosed. As of June 30, CSC managed more than A$80 billion for over 750,000 members, while Northern Trust reported US$20 trillion in assets under custody or administration and US$2 trillion under management.
