Post-GTC and OFC AI Outlook: Foreign Investors Bullish on CPO and Optical Communications
NVIDIA GTC and the 2026 Optical Fiber Communication Conference and Exhibition (OFC) focused on AI computing power and high-speed interconnects. As GPU clusters expand, transmission bandwidth, power consumption and cost are becoming bottlenecks. How CPO and copper cabling divide the workload will shape product strategies and order visibility for Taiwanese suppliers including Accton, Global Communication Semiconductors, ASE Technology and ASPEED Technology.
On March 24, Morgan Stanley said it expected NVIDIA’s Vera Rubin Ultra platform in 2027 to use either copper or a combination of copper and CPO, followed by full CPO adoption in the Feynman platform in 2028. It raised its price target for ASPEED Technology to NT$13,488 from NT$12,345. Accton showcased 800G and 1.6T modules as well as a 102.4T CPO switch, while a Groq LPU rack was estimated to cost only 10%–20% as much as a Rubin rack.
