Coinbase Names Centrifuge Preferred Tokenization Infrastructure and Makes Strategic Investment

Tokenization brings traditional financial assets such as ETFs, credit and structured products onto blockchains, with the issuance layer handling asset creation, compliance and onchain management. Coinbase's selection of Centrifuge as the preferred infrastructure for its ecosystem and Base signals that institutional-grade real-world assets are becoming part of its core product strategy.

Coinbase recently announced an equity investment in Centrifuge and named it Base's preferred tokenization issuance layer. The first institutional assets are expected to go live within weeks of the announcement. As of July 20, 2026, the companies had not disclosed the investment amount or an exact launch date. Their plans cover tokenized ETFs, credit and structured products.
