Trillions of dollars in global B2B payments still move through paper checks, manual reconciliation and fragmented systems. Raj Seshadri, Mastercard’s head of commercial payments, said macroeconomic pressures have turned delayed settlement, tied-up funds and poor cash visibility into problems that affect companies’ liquidity and ability to invest.
In an interview published by PYMNTS on April 10, 2026, Seshadri said the priority is to integrate real-time payments, account-to-account transfers and cards, connecting payments with data and controls. Mastercard has about 130 stablecoin co-branded programs worldwide, but supplier acceptance, compliance, interoperability and trust in transactions remain critical to achieving scale.
