Ripple, Kyobo Life Partner on Tokenized Government Bond Settlement

2 reports · First detected 2026-04-16 · Last active 2026-04-16

Kyobo Life, a major South Korean life insurer, has partnered with Ripple on plans to process tokenized settlement of South Korean government bonds through the Ripple Custody platform. The government bond market is large and tightly regulated. A successful pilot could demonstrate whether blockchain can reduce the time and operational costs associated with traditional settlement.

The companies will test shortening the current T+2 settlement cycle, completed two business days after a trade, to near real time. They will also explore possible routes for stablecoin payments and the applicable regulatory requirements. As of the publication of the relevant reports, Ripple and Kyobo Life had not announced a launch date, the volume of bonds involved, the value of the partnership or a timeline for formal commercial deployment.
