Tether Launches Self-Custodial Crypto Wallet tether.wallet

Tether, issuer of USDT, the world’s largest U.S. dollar stablecoin, has reached more than 570 million users with its technology. The company previously focused mainly on transaction and settlement infrastructure. The launch of a self-custodial wallet gives Tether greater control over the consumer payments gateway and advances cross-border financial inclusion through a model in which users retain their own private keys.

Tether launched tether.wallet on April 14, 2026, initially supporting USDT, USA₮, XAU₮ and Bitcoin across four smart-contract networks, the Bitcoin mainnet and the Lightning Network. It also launched a Bitcoin faucet on April 28, limited to one claim per user, but did not disclose the amount distributed.
