Neuroscience Startup Develops Medical AI to Read Brainwaves and Simplify Neurological Diagnosis

Traditional diagnostic processes for neurological and psychiatric conditions such as depression and post-traumatic stress disorder are lengthy and costly, creating an urgent need for more accurate and efficient technology. Neuroscience startup Hemispheric announced on July 19, 2026, that it had raised $52 million. Co-founded with an Apple Face ID co-inventor, the team is training deep-learning models on brain data to turn depression and PTSD screening into a rapid assessment using a lightweight EEG device and a tablet. It also plans to develop a dedicated brain scanner to capture more precise data.
