Consensys Founder Joseph Lubin Says Entire Global Economy Will Be Tokenized
Tokenization records rights to assets such as currencies, bonds and real estate on a blockchain, allowing them to be traded and settled instantly. Consensys founder and CEO Joseph Lubin said Ethereum’s Layer-2 scaling technology and developer ecosystem are steadily maturing, making the network critical infrastructure for banks and asset managers expanding into stablecoins and real-world assets (RWAs).
Speaking at Consensus Miami in 2026, Lubin said the tokenization of the entire global economy was inevitable and that traditional financial institutions were moving stablecoins and RWAs onto Ethereum and its Layer-2 networks. He did not name specific partner institutions or disclose asset volumes or investment amounts. His remarks were an industry trend forecast, not an announcement of completed tokenization transactions or formal financial commitments.
