Ledn Adds Tether Gold as Loan Collateral
Ledn, whose core business has been Bitcoin-backed lending since 2018, is adding Tether Gold (XAU₮) as collateral for financing, using tokenized physical gold to secure loans. Each XAU₮ token represents one troy ounce of gold held in a Swiss vault, highlighting the accelerating integration of real-world assets with digital finance.
Ledn and Tether announced the partnership on June 18, 2026. XAU₮ can now be held and traded on Ledn, while collateralized lending is expected to launch later in 2026. Tether holds about $23 billion in gold, of which roughly $2.5 billion has been tokenized. Loans will be disbursed and repaid in USD₮ or USA₮, but will initially be unavailable in Canada and the European Union.
