Maxim, Paymentology Launch UK Credit Card Program for African Diaspora
African migrants arriving in Britain often struggle to obtain credit because UK lenders have limited access to borrowing and repayment records accumulated in their home countries. That can force otherwise creditworthy consumers to rebuild a financial profile from scratch. Maxim’s partnership with global payments processor Paymentology aims to address that gap by allowing overseas credit histories to inform lending decisions, potentially widening access to mainstream financial services.
Maxim has unveiled a UK credit card program for the African diaspora in partnership with Paymentology, enabling applicants to use credit histories established in their countries of origin. The announcement did not disclose a formal launch date, the first African markets covered, expected credit limits, interest rates or fees. The program’s reach will depend on cross-border data verification, regulatory compliance and the scope of card issuance.
