Chunghwa Telecom Launches AI-Enabled Tree Carbon Sink Education Initiative in Hualien
Chunghwa Telecom is combining corporate ESG efforts, AI technology and environmental education in a tree carbon sink citizen-science initiative in Hualien. The program teaches students, educators and community members about tree measurement and carbon sinks. It aims to turn the abstract issue of net zero into practical campus activities while connecting sustainable environmental education resources across eastern Taiwan.
Chunghwa Telecom recently trained 65 citizen scientists in Hualien to measure trees. It also used AI technology to help survey carbon sink data for a total of 724 trees across four school campuses, gradually building a sustainable environmental learning network in eastern Taiwan. Available information does not disclose the program’s exact implementation dates, funding or the carbon sink measurements for each school.
