Ondo Sees Tokenization Following Early ETF Path as US Bill Looms
Asset tokenization is developing along a path similar to the early exchange-traded fund market, according to an Ondo executive. ETFs initially faced regulatory uncertainty, limited infrastructure and investor skepticism before becoming a mainstream investment vehicle. Ondo sees a comparable opportunity for blockchain-based representations of traditional assets, but gaining compliant access to US investors remains critical to expanding distribution, liquidity and institutional adoption.
The executive said tokenization is now advancing through that formative stage and that passage of the US Clarity Act could open the door for Ondo to launch tokenized products in the country. The report did not specify a launch date, fundraising amount or target asset volume. The timing and final scope of the legislation therefore remain key variables for the company’s US expansion plans.
