Crypto Wallet Maker Ledger Hires Former Circle Executive as CFO, Prepares for U.S. IPO
Paris-based Ledger was founded in 2014 and makes hardware wallets that store private keys for crypto assets offline, serving both individual and institutional customers. The company was valued at 1.3 billion euros in a 2023 funding round. A U.S. listing at a valuation above $4 billion would reflect demand for digital-asset security and U.S. capital markets’ acceptance of crypto companies.
Ledger appointed John Andrews, Circle’s former head of capital markets and investor relations, as chief financial officer on March 20, 2026. It also announced plans to open a New York office, invest several million dollars and hire dozens of employees. The company enlisted Goldman Sachs, Jefferies and Barclays in January to prepare an IPO valued at more than $4 billion, but put the plan on hold on May 13 because of market volatility. It has not yet submitted a draft S-1 to the SEC.
