JPMorgan Hires Former Goldman Sachs Executive to Lead Kinexys Blockchain Unit

JPMorgan has long used Kinexys to advance the tokenization of deposits, payments, and financial assets. It aims to shorten cross-border settlement times through shared ledgers and integrate currently fragmented back-end systems for money and assets. The strategy is pivotal to whether major banks can move blockchain from pilot projects into global financial infrastructure.

JPMorgan has hired Oliver Harris, a former Goldman Sachs and JPMorgan executive, to lead its Kinexys blockchain unit. Harris said tokenization cannot create liquidity on its own, but the technology is now mature enough to establish a unified global blockchain settlement layer for handling money and assets. Reports did not disclose his start date or compensation.
