Taiwan Lawmaker Ko Ju-chun Presses Government on VASP Tax Breaks, Bitcoin ETFs
Taiwan is considering plans to establish a digital asset hub, but VASP operators still face tax and regulatory costs, while domestic issuance of spot Bitcoin ETFs has yet to be permitted. Lawmaker Ko Ju-chun called on the Executive Yuan, the Financial Supervisory Commission and the Ministry of Finance to assess tax incentives and promote RWA tokenization to strengthen market competitiveness.
Ko questioned Premier Cho Jung-tai and other officials in the Legislative Yuan, advocating tax breaks for VASPs and domestically issued spot Bitcoin ETFs. The government pledged to outline potential tax incentives within one month and submit an ETF research report within three months. It has yet to disclose the amount of any tax relief, applicable tax rates, the report's exact deadline or a launch timetable for the products.
