Mubadala Capital Tokenizes Private-Markets Fund as Coinbase Invests

1 reports · First detected 2026-07-23 · Last active 2026-07-23

Mubadala Capital, the asset-management arm of Abu Dhabi sovereign investor Mubadala Investment Company, is taking an evergreen private-markets strategy onto public blockchains. Tokenization turns fund interests into digital tokens, potentially speeding settlement and widening distribution to qualified investors in assets that are traditionally illiquid and difficult to access. The launch matters because it moves a major sovereign-backed manager from investing around blockchain technology to using the infrastructure for its own products.

Mubadala Capital, tokenization platform KAIO and Coinbase announced the product on July 23, 2026, deploying it across Base, Solana and Sui. The strategy has attracted about $75 million in commitments from traditional and digital-asset investors. Coinbase will also invest directly from its corporate balance sheet, giving the U.S.-listed crypto group a dual role as technology partner and investor and underscoring growing institutional demand for regulated onchain real-world assets.
