Taiwan’s Overseas Trading Hits Record as KGI Maps Three AI Trends
The global artificial-intelligence race is shifting from a narrow focus on bigger models and computing power toward broader adoption, commercial applications and measurable returns. KGI Securities said the US AI investment theme retains long-term growth potential, but investors are becoming more selective as they assess whether the technology can spread across industries and generate sustainable revenue and profit rather than merely support ambitious spending plans.
Taiwanese investors traded NT$9.99 trillion of overseas securities in the first half of 2026, a record high, according to KGI Securities. The brokerage identified three trends shaping US equity opportunities: the rise of Chinese open-source AI models, the spread of AI-related gains into a wider range of industries, and a stronger market focus on companies producing actual earnings. KGI advised investors to prioritize long-term growth prospects when considering exposure across the US AI supply chain.
