PYMNTS Report Says Payout Speed Is No Longer the Sole Benchmark as Recipient Preferences Drive Satisfaction
PYMNTS Intelligence and Ingo Payments have jointly studied payout experiences and introduced the “Preference Match Rate,” or PMR, to measure whether recipients receive funds through their preferred channel. The metric broadens the focus beyond speed alone to include payment choice and individual needs, reflecting that satisfaction depends on both how quickly funds arrive and whether the delivery channel matches the recipient's preference.
The latest report, “Why Speed Alone Isn’t Enough in Payouts,” says instant delivery does not necessarily produce the best experience. Satisfaction can still decline if funds are not sent to the recipient's preferred bank account, digital wallet or other channel. Available information does not disclose the report's publication date, transaction amounts or PMR statistics. The key development is the formal introduction of PMR as a new measure of payment performance.
