OpenAI Launches Presence for Enterprise AI Agents
Enterprises have moved beyond proving that AI agents can perform tasks to making them reliable, governed and adaptable in production. OpenAI Presence is a managed platform combining model reasoning with company policies, guardrails, evaluations, approved actions and human-escalation rules. It targets high-volume or high-risk voice and chat workflows, including customer support, outbound sales and internal IT services, with OpenAI engineers helping clients connect agents to corporate systems.
OpenAI launched Presence on July 22, 2026, through limited general availability for eligible enterprise customers. Pricing was not disclosed, and the product is not available on a self-service basis; deployments are led by OpenAI Forward Deployed Engineers and selected systems integrators. OpenAI said Presence resolves 75% of inbound issues on its English-language phone support line without human assistance, while a Codex-powered improvement loop cut human handoffs by 15 percentage points in 10 days. BBVA, SoftBank and IAG are testing or exploring deployments.
