OpenAI Launches Presence for Enterprise AI Agents
Enterprises have moved beyond testing whether AI agents can function to determining whether they can operate reliably in production, follow company policies and safely access internal systems. OpenAI is positioning Presence as a deployment product rather than a standalone model. It combines company knowledge, permissions, standard operating procedures, guardrails, simulations, evaluations and human-escalation rules for voice and chat workflows spanning customer support, claims, human resources, procurement and IT services.
OpenAI launched Presence on July 22, 2026, through a limited general-availability program for eligible enterprise customers. The product is not self-service, and OpenAI disclosed no pricing or contract value. The company said Presence already resolves 75% of inbound issues on its English-language phone-support channel without human assistance, while a Codex-powered improvement loop cut human handoffs by 15 percentage points in 10 days. BBVA, SoftBank and IAG are testing or exploring deployments.
