Standard Chartered’s SC Ventures Invests in Crypto Market Maker GSR
Founded by former Goldman Sachs traders in 2013, GSR provides crypto market making, institutional-grade over-the-counter trading, investment and advisory services. Standard Chartered has built a presence spanning venture investment, custody, trading and tokenization through SC Ventures, Zodia Custody, Zodia Markets and Libeara. Investing in GSR adds liquidity and market-making capabilities, helping connect traditional finance with on-chain markets.
On May 5, 2026, GSR announced a strategic investment from SC Ventures, Standard Chartered’s fintech investment arm. The transaction value and stake were not disclosed, but GSR said its post-money valuation exceeded $1 billion and that it was in talks to raise up to an additional $150 million from strategic investors. SC Ventures also became GSR’s first external strategic shareholder since its founding in 2013, with the partnership set to expand from tokenization into institutional-grade market infrastructure.
