Noggin HQ Raises £2.3 Million, Secures Credit Referencing Approval

1 reports · First detected 2026-08-19 · Last active 2026-08-19

Founded by Evangeline Atkinson and Laura Mills, Noggin HQ uses Open Banking transaction data to assess income, spending and cash flow, aiming to improve lending decisions for consumers underserved by conventional credit files. The British fintech previously raised £710,000 in a pre-seed round announced in 2024, as it developed an alternative to credit models that rely heavily on an applicant’s past borrowing history.

Noggin HQ said on Aug. 19, 2026, that it had closed an oversubscribed £2.3 million seed round and secured Financial Conduct Authority authorisation to operate as a credit reference agency. The regulatory approval clears a key hurdle for offering its credit-risk scores commercially to lenders, while the new capital will support product development and expansion of its credit referencing business in the UK.

Block Opens Cash App Score to Outside Lendersfirst seen 2026-09-02 · 2 reports · similarity 0.70 · same topic: Credit Scoring

Block’s Cash App Score uses cash-flow and transaction data to assess borrowers who may have thin or nonexistent files at traditional credit bureaus. The proprietary model has largely supported lending within the Cash App ecosystem. Making its insights available beyond Block could broaden the use of alternative data in consumer underwriting and help lenders evaluate customers who are often underserved by conventional credit scores.

Block said it is partnering with Nova Credit to give outside lenders access to insights from Cash App Score for the first time. Nova Credit will make the cash-flow-based assessment available through its credit infrastructure, extending its reach to financial institutions seeking a fuller view of prospective borrowers. The companies did not disclose the value of the agreement, name participating lenders or provide a date for a broader rollout.
