ASPEED Unveils Caliptra 2.x Security Chips at Computex 2026, Adds PQC Support for AI Computing

The rise of generative AI is driving rapid growth in high-density servers and multi-node computing, making management chips a critical line of defense against hardware attacks. ASPEED Technology plans to incorporate the open Caliptra 2.x security architecture into its chips and support post-quantum cryptography (PQC) to address the long-term risk that quantum computing could break existing encryption systems.

At Computex 2026, ASPEED showcased what it described as the world’s first chips integrating Caliptra 2.x, including its AST1040 and AST1840 management chips. Reports published on June 5 said the new architecture focuses on chip-level protection and multi-node management for AI computing environments. The company has not disclosed a mass-production timetable, customer list or investment amount.
