Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC)

Post-quantum cryptography (PQC) is a new generation of cryptographic technology designed to withstand the threat of quantum computers breaking encryption. Its goal is to gradually replace or reinforce traditional public-key encryption within existing systems. The G7, Taiwan's Financial Supervisory Commission, the U.S. government and France have recently set migration timelines for financial institutions and government agencies. IBM, Microsoft, AWS, OpenSSH and certificate service providers are also accelerating adoption or offering assessment tools, while the Web3, semiconductor and drone communications sectors are pursuing their own initiatives. Migration requires coordination across algorithms, certificates, hardware and organizations, making preparations lengthy. Given the implications for the security of financial systems, governments and digital assets, progress on standards and real-world deployment warrants close attention.
