HIWIN Mikrosystem Unveils 1-Nanometer Controller as Silicon Photonics Orders Surge

1 reports · First detected 2026-09-02 · Last active 2026-09-02

HIWIN Mikrosystem supplies precision motion-control and positioning technology used in semiconductor manufacturing and advanced metrology. Demand is rising as data centers move toward 800G and 1.6T connectivity, increasing the need for highly accurate fiber alignment in co-packaged optics, or CPO. Nanometer-level control is critical to reducing coupling losses in silicon photonics, making the company’s equipment relevant to next-generation optical interconnect production and testing.

The company unveiled a 1-nanometer motion controller and a six-axis multidimensional positioning platform at SEMICON Taiwan, saying the systems address optical-coupling signal losses in 800G and 1.6T CPO applications. Strong semiconductor and high-end measurement demand has extended order visibility for its inspection equipment through the second quarter of next year. HIWIN Mikrosystem has also launched a NT$150 million capacity-expansion plan to support the growing backlog.
