Chesky’s X account was hacked on July 16, 2026. The attacker used it to publish several AI-generated spam posts promoting the tokenization of real-world assets. The thread attracted more than 700,000 views before it was deleted. Chesky regained control of the account on July 17 and responded with a humorous post, while Airbnb worked with X to strengthen security protections.
