Deutsche Bank Plans European Crypto Custody Launch

2 reports · First detected 2026-09-16 · Last active 2026-09-16

Deutsche Bank is moving its digital-asset strategy toward a commercial custody business aimed at institutional and corporate clients in Europe. The service would let asset managers, hedge funds, brokers, custodians, companies and sovereign institutions hold and transfer supported assets without building their own wallet infrastructure. Deutsche Bank will manage wallets and private keys, positioning the regulated lender as a gateway between traditional finance and crypto markets as institutional demand for secure custody grows.

The Frankfurt-based bank said on Sept. 16, 2026, that it expects to onboard its first clients this year, subject to completion of the applicable regulatory process. The initial lineup will include Bitcoin and Ether, along with selected stablecoins or e-money tokens such as USDC, EURC and EURAU. Deutsche Bank disclosed no investment amount or pricing. Tokenized financial instruments are on the roadmap, while timing, geographic availability and supported assets may change with regulation, internal approvals and client demand.

BNY, World’s Largest Custodian Bank, Expands Crypto Custody Services in Abu Dhabifirst seen 2026-05-07 · 3 reports · similarity 0.76 · same topic: Cryptocurrency Custody

BNY, the world’s largest custodian bank, had $59.4 trillion in assets under custody and/or administration and $2.1 trillion in assets under management as of March 31, 2026. Its entry into Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM) signals that traditional financial institutions are bringing regulated custody capabilities to the UAE’s digital asset market, while bolstering Abu Dhabi’s push to become a regional financial hub.

BNY said on May 7, 2026, that it was working with Finstreet Limited and ADI Foundation to establish a regulated, institutional-grade digital asset custody service in ADGM. The initial offering would serve Finstreet clients and support Bitcoin and Ether, with stablecoins, tokenized real-world assets and ADI Chain to be evaluated later. The plan remains subject to definitive agreements and regulatory approval, and no launch date was disclosed.
