WisdomTree Executive Says CLARITY Act Is No Gatekeeper for Crypto Innovation
The U.S. CLARITY Act aims to clarify the SEC’s and CFTC’s jurisdiction over digital assets and the rules for classifying them. Supporters say it could reduce uncertainty for institutional market participants. WisdomTree has already launched a spot Bitcoin ETF and a tokenized money market fund under existing SEC frameworks, including the Investment Company Act of 1940, meaning the bill is not the starting point for product innovation.
On April 1, 2026, WisdomTree head of digital assets Will Peck said the CLARITY Act awaiting congressional consideration was not a “gatekeeper” for innovation. On February 24, the company received SEC exemptive relief and FINRA approval enabling WTGXX, which has more than $730 million in assets, to trade against USDC around the clock at $1 per share with instant settlement. The tokenized Treasury market is worth about $10 billion.
