UOB Taiwan’s Korea KOSPI 50 ETF Set for Aug. 21 Debut
South Korea holds critical positions in semiconductors, batteries and robotics, industries expected to benefit as artificial intelligence expands from data centers into factories, energy systems and humanoid machines. The UOB Korea KOSPI 50 ETF is designed to give Taiwan investors one-stop exposure to 50 leading South Korean companies tied to physical AI and infrastructure, reducing the need to select individual stocks across the supply chain.
UOB Asset Management (Taiwan) plans to list the UOB Korea KOSPI 50 ETF, ticker 009829, on Aug. 21. Billed as Taiwan’s first ETF focused on South Korea’s 50 flagship companies, the fund targets businesses linked to high-bandwidth memory for AI computing, power storage and humanoid robots. The manager is positioning the product as a lower-entry-price route to diversified exposure across those industries.

Surging investment in artificial-intelligence data centers is driving demand for high-bandwidth memory, or HBM, and advanced semiconductors. UOB Asset Management Taiwan is seeking to capitalize on South Korea’s central role in the global memory-chip supply chain with an exchange-traded fund tracking the KOSPI 50 Index, offering investors concentrated exposure to major Korean companies including Samsung Electronics and SK hynix.
The UOB Korea KOSPI 50 ETF, trading under Taiwan ticker 009829, is scheduled to open for subscription on Aug. 3, 2026, at an issue price of NT$10 per unit. Samsung Electronics and SK hynix together account for about 70% of the underlying index. The launch follows seven recent circuit-breaker events in Korean equities, with the manager presenting the market’s leveraged-position unwind as an entry point into long-term AI semiconductor growth.
