Amazon Issues First Trustworthy Shopping Report, Expands AI Fight Against E-Commerce Fraud

1 reports · First detected 2026-04-22 · Last active 2026-04-22

For the past five years, Amazon's annual Brand Protection Report focused on counterfeit goods and intellectual property rights. E-commerce fraud has since expanded to include fake reviews, product safety issues, seller manipulation and organized retail crime. Its first Trustworthy Shopping Experience Report treats these disparate risks as interconnected threats to trust and outlines preventive measures involving AI, seller vetting, law enforcement and consumer education.

Amazon released the report in April 2026. In 2025, its AI systems helped identify and take action against more than 15 million counterfeit products and blocked hundreds of millions of suspected fake reviews. Legal action also led to the closure of more than 100 related websites. Since 2020, the Amazon Counterfeit Crimes Unit has pursued more than 32,000 illicit actors across 14 countries through lawsuits and criminal referrals.
