Safari Adds MCP Server Support for AI Agents to Inspect Live Webpages

Apple is testing a Model Context Protocol, or MCP, server through Safari Technology Preview, allowing AI agents to understand the actual runtime state of webpages directly. The integration could reduce the need for developers to switch among browsers, debuggers and AI tools. Its local operation could also lower the risk of sensitive data exposure.

The latest preview release allows AI agents to access the DOM structure, network requests and screenshots of Safari windows, enabling them to use real-time information to help inspect layouts, performance and code errors. Apple has not announced when the feature will be added to the production version of Safari, and no transaction value is involved. The feature remains in technical preview testing.
