Robinhood CEO Touts Trump Accounts and Asset Tokenization

1 reports · First detected 2026-08-22 · Last active 2026-08-22

Trump Accounts are tax-deferred traditional IRAs designed to give US children an early stake in financial markets, with guardians managing the funds until age 18. Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev sees the program as part of a broader push to expand retail ownership. He also argues that tokenization can move assets onto blockchain infrastructure, ease trading restrictions and widen access to private-market investments that have historically been reserved for wealthy or institutional investors.

In a CNBC interview aired on Aug. 19, 2026, Tenev said the accounts currently center on a low-cost State Street S&P 500 ETF, keeping investment choices simple and allowing returns to compound over time. The program launched in July, and Robinhood said on July 29 that 7 million children had registered and nearly $1.5 billion had been contributed. Eligible US citizen children born from 2025 through 2028 can receive a $1,000 Treasury pilot contribution.
