Kaohsiung’s Asia New Bay Area Eyes Role as International Asset-Management Hub
Kaohsiung’s Asia New Bay Area is expected to evolve from a regional financial testing ground into an asset-management hub serving international capital and high-net-worth clients. Academic Wang Chao-wen said success would depend not only on infrastructure, but also on sustained regulatory incentives, cross-border financial-service capabilities and a supply of skilled professionals. These factors will determine whether Kaohsiung can build a lasting financial-industry ecosystem.
In the latest related report, Wang proposed three priorities: expanding ETF products and their regulatory foundations, strengthening sustainable finance, and promoting the tokenization of real-world assets, or RWA, to give the Asia New Bay Area differentiated services. The report did not disclose a specific publication date, investment amount or implementation timetable. For now, the focus remains on regulatory design and the rollout of cross-border services.
