Meta Reportedly Developing Prediction-Market App ‘Arena’
Prediction markets allow users to bet on the outcomes of political, sports and entertainment events. Platforms including Polymarket and Kalshi have grown rapidly in recent years, while also raising concerns about gambling regulation and market manipulation. Meta’s entry, backed by its vast social-media user base, could reshape barriers to participation and the competitive landscape.
The New York Times reported that Meta is developing a prediction-market-style app called “Arena” at the direction of CEO Mark Zuckerberg. The product is initially expected to use gamified points without cash transactions. Meta has not ruled out introducing real-money trading later, however, and has disclosed neither a launch date nor the amount being invested.
