Keyfactor Secures $1 Billion-Plus Investment to Expand AI, Quantum Security

1 reports · First detected 2026-08-04 · Last active 2026-08-04

Keyfactor provides public key infrastructure (PKI), machine identity and cryptographic asset management, helping organizations secure certificates and keys used by servers, APIs, workloads and AI agents. Its market is gaining urgency as AI multiplies non-human identities and the CA/Browser Forum shortens public TLS certificate lifetimes in stages, from 200 days beginning March 2026 to 47 days in March 2029. Governments are also accelerating migration to post-quantum cryptography, turning automated certificate management and crypto agility into board-level priorities.

Keyfactor said on July 6, 2026, it secured a strategic growth investment of more than $1 billion led by Summit Partners. The company plans to use the capital for product innovation, geographic expansion, hiring and strategic acquisitions, with a focus on securing AI agents and post-quantum transitions. Existing backers Insight Partners and Sixth Street Growth will retain significant stakes after closing. Keyfactor manages billions of machine identities annually for more than 2,500 customers, including over 40% of the Fortune 100.
