Tether Leads $14 Million Series A for Argentine Crypto Payments Firm Belo
Belo was founded in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 2021. Its stablecoin-based infrastructure integrates payments, currency exchange and cross-border transfers, allowing users to hold and move local currency and digital dollars. Latin America has long faced high inflation, exchange-rate volatility and elevated remittance costs, making such services important to the efficient movement of funds for individuals and businesses.
Belo announced a $14 million Series A funding round on April 28, 2026, led by USDT issuer Tether, with participation from Titan Fund, The Venture City, Mindset Ventures and G2. Belo has more than 3 million users. The funds will support expansion into Mexico, Chile, Colombia, Peru, Bolivia and Paraguay, as well as a deeper presence in Brazil.

The history behind this eventTether Invests in Argentine Neobank Ualá to Expand in Latin America
Stablecoin issuer Tether has recently begun channeling profits into investments in Latin America's emerging markets. Against a backdrop of high inflation and expanding digital finance in the region, Argentine neobank Ualá has emerged as a key bridge in Tether's push to connect traditional finance with crypto assets. The investment underscores the trend toward integration between conventional banking and virtual assets.
Tether confirmed in July this year that it had invested $20 million in Ualá. The investment formed part of the $197 million funding round Ualá announced in March, which valued the neobank at $3.2 billion. Founder Barbieri said, however, that regulatory constraints meant the platform would not integrate the USDT stablecoin in the near term. For now, the funding is purely a financial investment.
Tether Invests $200 Million in Whop to Expand Stablecoin Payments
Whop is a digital goods marketplace serving creators, consumers and online entrepreneurs, reaching more than 18.4 million users across 144 countries and processing about $3 billion in payments annually. The investment by USDT issuer Tether reflects stablecoins’ shift from crypto trading tools to cross-border commerce settlement and could reduce reliance on banks and card networks.
On February 25, 2026, Tether announced a $200 million investment in Whop, valuing the company at $1.6 billion. Whop will integrate Tether’s Wallet Development Kit to support USDT and USAT payments and allow users to retain control of their funds. The investment will also fund expansion in Latin America, Europe and Asia-Pacific, as well as the development of AI tools.
