Formosa Chemicals to Make COMPUTEX Debut in 2026 as It Expands Into Semiconductor Materials and AI

Formosa Chemicals & Fibre Corp. has long focused on petrochemicals and plastics. In recent years, economic cycles, the low-carbon transition and demand for advanced computing have prompted the company to extend its materials expertise into the information and communications technology, semiconductor and AI supply chains. It aims for transformation businesses to account for 50% of revenue by 2030, a target that will be pivotal to its profit structure and return to profitability.

Chairman Fu-yuan Hung said Formosa Chemicals would participate in COMPUTEX for the first time in 2026, showcasing its work on AI materials, low-carbon hydrogen and third-generation semiconductors. Its high-temperature engineering plastics are already used in AI servers, humanoid robots and semiconductor carriers. The company also plans to repurpose existing plants to provide the stable power supply and facilities required by AI computing centers. It has not disclosed the amount of related investment.
