First U.S.-Listed 2x Leveraged SK Hynix ETF Set to Launch
SK Hynix is a major supplier of high-bandwidth memory, or HBM, for AI servers and has benefited from generative AI-driven chip demand. GraniteShares plans to launch some of the first U.S. leveraged ETFs directly tied to the company's share-price performance, allowing investors to amplify their exposure without trading Korean stocks across borders.
GraniteShares recently said it was preparing the 2x leveraged ETF SKUU and the inverse ETF SKDD, which will track SK Hynix's daily price moves. The available information did not specify an exact listing date, management fees or fundraising targets. Both products reset daily, meaning compounding effects could erode their net asset value when held over longer periods in volatile markets.

The history behind this eventSK Hynix Lists in U.S. as Six 2x Leveraged ETFs Prepare to Launch
Semiconductor giant SK Hynix formally listed in the U.S. with a $26.5 billion offering, the largest U.S. listing by a foreign company on record. The event is significant not only as a milestone for the memory-chip market but also because it coincides with the rise of leveraged single-stock products. The rapid growth of these highly volatile instruments is expected to reshape trading in the shares and the broader market, drawing close attention across global financial markets.
As SK Hynix formally debuted on Wall Street, issuers including ProShares moved quickly to introduce six 2x leveraged and inverse ETFs, fueling a wave of retail buying. On its first day of trading on July 15, 2026, the company’s ADR surged 13%, while its South Korean-listed shares plunged 15% the same day. The rapid proliferation of such leveraged single-stock products is significantly amplifying market volatility and trading volume.
AI Chip Boom Fuels Surge in SK Hynix Leveraged ETF Assets, Drawing South Korean Regulatory Scrutiny
Demand from AI data centers is driving the high-bandwidth memory market, making SK Hynix a magnet for investors because of its position in advanced AI memory supply. Leveraged ETFs tracking Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix have expanded rapidly, but their daily leveraged returns and concentrated holdings could also amplify swings in South Korean stocks and losses for retail investors.
As of July 2026, assets in an SK Hynix leveraged ETF in Hong Kong had reached $13 billion. South Korea’s Financial Supervisory Service said retail investors accounted for about 92% of holders of the products and acknowledged that it regretted approving their listing. The regulator is considering market-stabilization and risk-control measures, while South Korea has also slowed its push for inclusion in MSCI’s developed-market index.
