Seven in 10 Brazilians Expect to Shop With AI Agents by 2028
Brazilian consumers are rapidly weaving smartphones and digital tools into the shopping journey, using them to search for products, compare prices and check payment options. Research from PYMNTS and Visa suggests artificial intelligence is evolving from an information aid into an agent capable of completing tasks for shoppers, a shift that could reshape how retailers and payment providers reach customers in one of Latin America’s largest digital commerce markets.
As many as 70% of Brazilian consumers expect to use AI agents to help them shop by 2028, according to the latest PYMNTS-Visa survey report. Respondents showed particular interest in deploying AI to compare prices and verify available ways to pay. The finding points to rising acceptance of agentic commerce in Brazil and gives merchants and payments companies a roughly two-year window to adapt their mobile shopping experiences, transaction controls and customer-service systems.
