MoonPay Adds Discover Card Support for US Crypto Purchases and Sales

1 reports · First detected 2026-07-24 · Last active 2026-07-24

MoonPay, founded in 2019, provides payment infrastructure connecting fiat currencies and digital assets for more than 30 million customers and over 500 enterprise clients worldwide. Expanding card-network coverage matters because payment acceptance can determine whether users complete crypto transactions. Discover has historically pursued fewer crypto partnerships than Visa and Mastercard, while its network gained greater strategic weight after Capital One completed its $35.3 billion acquisition of Discover Financial Services on May 18, 2025.

MoonPay said on July 23, 2026, that US customers can now use eligible Discover Network cards to buy and sell cryptocurrencies, making Discover the third major US card network on its platform after Visa and Mastercard. The rollout adds to payment methods including Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal, Venmo and bank transfers. Support applies to the Discover Network payment rail, while whether a specific card can fund a crypto purchase remains subject to the issuing bank’s transaction policies.
