Burger King Launches OpenAI-Powered BK Assistant and Rolls Out Patty Voice Assistant
Burger King has launched BK Assistant, an OpenAI-powered platform that integrates restaurant point-of-sale, inventory and customer data in one place, helping managers spend less time searching back-office systems and handling routine administrative tasks. The move shows how restaurant chains are extending generative AI beyond ordering into internal operations, while raising questions about employee management and the boundaries of data use.
Burger King has deployed its Patty voice assistant at about 500 restaurants, allowing employees to use headsets to look up standard operating procedures in real time while the system analyzes customer service quality. Reports did not disclose a formal launch date, investment amount or full rollout schedule. The monitoring capabilities have also prompted concerns about excessive workplace surveillance, a potential flashpoint as deployment expands.
